Project Details
Overview
The design objective was to match the "caffeinated" energy of its surroundings while maintaining the brand's approachable, family-friendly soul. The result is a multi-level immersive environment that uses light, color, and massive scale to guide guests through a high-volume shopping experience.
Collaborators
Gap Inc.
Scale
31,000 sq ft
Outcome
The heart of the project is a dramatic escalator well featuring a custom-engineered, multi-color LED "light canopy". This installation serves as a vertical beacon, drawing guests through the multiple floors while creating a signature "Instagrammable" architectural moment that echoes the neon glow of the street outside.

Part of a coordinated Gap Inc. flagship strategy that simultaneously opened Gap and Old Navy in the former Toys R Us space at Times Square. Craig Trettau led global retail format design for Old Navy at VP level, covered by Forbes in 2018.
