Project Details
Overview
A ground-up evolution of the Old Navy store format. Designed as a one-stop lifestyle destination, the new format integrates real-time inventory tracking and immersive marketing displays to merge the convenience of online shopping with the energy of a physical neighborhood hub.
Collaborators
Gap Inc.
Scale
20,000 sq ft
Outcome
At the heart of the prototype is the "Discovery Core," featuring moveable platforms with brand defining and large-scale marketing displays. This central social hub acts as a live lookbook, allowing families to "play with style" while moving through curated shop-in-shops. From denim fit-guides to interactive gaming zones for kids, the anchor is designed to increase dwell time and turn a shopping trip into a 360-degree event.

Developed as part of Gap Inc.'s global retail format evolution under Craig Trettau's VP-level creative direction. The Walnut Creek prototype tested a new store DNA — warm, biomorphic, and digitally integrated — that shifted Old Navy away from industrial finishes toward an organic, family-oriented retail environment designed for scale.
